Hooray for the legislative process!

Vermont has just acted to legalize gay marriage.  And, here’s the kicker, they did it legislatively. 

This, rather than activist courts, is the way to legitimize these relationships and allow public opinion to come around to accepting the social benefits of marriage for the broadest number of people possible.  Vermont’s legislatures must answer to their citizens for this; they have surely been hearing from them already, so it is doubtful that this will be overturned by the will of the people, like that of California. 

Other states should watch and learn.
